The Incoterms

Incoterms determine the reciprocal obligations of the seller and the buyer under an international purchase / sale contract. Incoterms specify respective responsibilities but don’t define when ownership is transferred. Incoterms set the cost-sharing and the division of risks.

Type of dangereous good

The transportation of dangerous good is done by different modes. It uses road, rail, air, river, sea and pipeline modes. Road transport is predominant. The risk posed by TDG depends on the properties of the material being transported :

1 - The risk of explosive - the property of decomposing violently under the action of heat or shock, causing a huge mass of hot gases and a shock wave.
2 - the gas hazard - represented by the risk of leakage or bursting of the container, diffusion of the gas into the atmosphere.
3 - Risk specific to the nature of the gas: flammability, toxicity, corrosivity, etc.
4- Flammability - ability to catch fire easily.
5- Toxicity - the ability to poison, which means, to harm health or to cause death.
6- Radioactivity - emits various radiation that is dangerous to people.
7- Which means corrosivity - the property of gnawing, oxidizing or corroding materials (metals, fabrics, etc.) or living tissues (skin, mucous membranes, etc.) the infectious risk - the property of causing serious diseases in humans or animals. This risk concerns materials containing infectious micro-organisms such as viruses, bacteria, parasites.
8 - the danger of spontaneous violent reaction - possibility of reacting strongly and spontaneously in the form of an explosion with production of heat and release of flammable or toxic gases under high pressure. Safety must be a concern for everyone. To protect yourself from these dangers, you need to know the right attitudes to adopt in the event of an accident. See: Good reflexes in the event of an accident.

The materials or goods recognized as dangerous are divided into 9 main classes. Diamond-shaped plates and labels, along with a system of colours and symbols representing the hazards inherent in regulated products, are glued to the transport units during transport. For example, flammable materials are identified by the flame symbol, and toxic materials are identified by the skull and shins.
